Chevrolet Suburban C1500 Out of State Won't Pass Smog
My daughter gave us the 1999 Chevy Suburban. It has Washinton state tags. We paid the California registration fees, and have tried to get it smogged. We had to pay for a new oxygen sensor and a tuneup. It still won't pass the pre smog test. We have no money for further repairs at this time. What do we do?
Answer:
Unfortunately during a title transfer there is no government assistance available to help pay for any smog related repairs. In this particular situation it will be up to the new owner (you) to bring your Chevy Suburban into smog compliance. Our recommendation is to find a dependable smog check repair technician who can provide you an accurate diagnosis of your Suburbans smog check failure. Only perform repairs which are absolutely necessary in order to pass the smog check.
