2000 Toyota Camry Vacuum Hose Broken

My 2000 Toyota Camry failed smog test due to discovery of broken vacuum hose during the visual inspection. All other tests passed. I keep reading that some smog stations deliberately cut the hose so they get to charge a retest fee. There is no way to findout if that is what happened to me, but my question is how much would it cost to replace this hose (parts and labor)? Thanks.

This all depends on the "vacuum hose" in question. Normally engine vacuum hoses are easily accessible. There are some vacuum hoses that run along underneath the intake manifold; and these hoses may require the manifold's removal for repair. For the most part, most vacuum lines can be replaced/repaired quite inexpensively. You will need to address this question to a smog check repair station, who after identifying the hose which needs repair, can quote you a repair price. Smog stations typically charge $50-$75 a hour for smog related repairs. One foot of vacuum hose usually costs a few dollars, unless the hose is designed (shaped or molded) for a specific application.
