Honda Civic VIN Sticker and Emission Label on Hood
I replaced the hood on my Honda Civic a few years ago. It's missing the emissions sticker. Will it fail for that in California? It's a 1999 Honda Civic. Can I replace the sticker or find the specs by the VIN number? Thank you very much! Answer:
A Honda dealer will be able to look up your vehicle's emission specs from the "public" VIN which is located both on the driver's side door jam and behind the windshield on the lower left hand side (driver's side). The emission label is not required to pass a smog check. Vehicle owner's often replace a vehicle's hood. For this reason the state smog inspection allows the underhood emission label to be missing. It will not cause a smog check failure. You may be able to order a new emission sticker. Contact a local Honda dealership.
