Should I Change the Oil on Hyundai Accent before Smog Test?

I want to know if I should change the oil in my 2010 Hyundai Accent before I get a smog test. Will changing it help me pass the test? It has 34,000 miles on the engine now.
Answer:

Getting an oil change before a smog inspection may help your Hyundai Accent pass the smog check, IF it has not had an oil change past its oil change maintenance due date; with regular oil after 5000 miles, and with synthetic oil after 10,000.

The PCV (positive crank ventilation) system of your Hyundai allows the engine to breath fumes from engine oil compartments such as the oil pan and all chambers where oil is present. Contaminated oils (oil which is not changed past 5000-10000 miles, depending on the type of oil used) are high in Hydrocarbons (HC) and will cause a rich fuel mixture when the PCV combines the fumes with fresh air; in the intake manifold.

If the oil in your engine is contaminated (saturated with Hydrocarbon - gasoline) due to inadequate oil changes it may cause your Hyundai Accent to fail the inspection.
