Recently bought 2000 Infiniti failed smog test 3 times.

Less than 50 miles after I purchase my Infiniti I30 the check engine light came on. The dealer offered to fix it. After another 50 miles the check engine light illuminated again. I got a diagnosis for the smog check failure by smog technician confirming a smog problem. The technician also mentioned the car had failed the the smog test 3 times previously. What do you think? I feel kind of cheated. Thanks

Something does sound funny. We'd recommend two points of contact: A DMV Investigator (to look into the dealership's disciplinary history), and a Bureau of Automotive Repairs investigator to look into the smog station's records which passed the vehicle. Ultimately if you feel you've been cheated in any way, or that the passing smog check results are fraudulent, you can contact the dealership and request to return the vehicle, or deal with the dealership to repair the vehicle properly.
