Do I need a Catalytic Converter on my 2000 Ford Excursion 7.3 Diesel to pass the new California smog laws? Answer:
According to the Motor Emission Application Guide all models of the 2000 Ford Excursion require a Catalytic Converter and should have been equipped with one from the factory. If you try and obtain a smog inspection without one your truck will fail the smog check for "missing" emissions component.
