Does my Nissan Frontier need a smog check?

We own a 1993 Nissan Frontier. The vehicle is registered to Galt address (Sacramento County)but resides at our San Andreas(Calaveras County) sanctuary. Is Calaveras exempt from smog testing? This would be an address change not a sale or purchase. Thank you. I called DMV ... they said yes. I called a Calaveras resident and he said no. ???
Answer:

Calaveras is a Change of Ownership smog check area, meaning smog tests are only required when buying or selling a vehicle. Galt is a Partially Enhanced smog check program area, meaning a smog check is required every two years at a regular smog check station (partial enhanced smog check program areas do not have nor require Test Only certification). By changing your registration address your Nissan Frontier will no longer need smog checks every two years. posted by SmogTips Support
