Does my Winnebago Motorhome need a Catalytic Converter
I recently purchased a 1982 Winnebago motor coach and have to get it smog checked. It does not have a catalytic converter on it and I was told that certain heavy duty model vehicles did not require the use of a catalytic converter. The RV is on a p30 chassis and has a 454 Chevy engine. Do I need to have a catalytic converter (CAT) on this vehicle? Answer:
Our Emission Application Guide indicates your Winnebago does in fact need to be equipped with a Catalytic Converter. If your motorhome is missing its CAT, it is possible it was removed by a previous owner. You will need to re-install the CAT in order to pass the smog test.
