Chrysler Town & Country failed HC. What could be cause?
My 1996 Chrysler Town & Country V6 failed one catagory. The HC were over limit. Only the Hydrocarbon failed by 3 PPM points at 15mph and 18 PPM over at 25mph. What could be the cause?
The CO was 0.21 and 0.28. The NOx 417 and 476 the %co2 10.3 and 10.0... %o2 is 5.9 and 6.1.
What should I start fixing first? Answer:
We're glad you mentioned your Town & Country's CO results. The CO results are important in diagnosing HC faults. Your Chrysler's high CO (even though it didn't fail for high CO) is an indication that your vehicle might be suffering a "rich misfire", leaving behind high HC (which is raw fuel).
We recommend first conducting a quick visual to ensure there aren't any loose connections, disconnected vacuum lines, and so on... and then move on to the fuel feedback system. This will include inspecting the electronic components such as the Mass Air Flow sensor, Oxygen sensor, Throttle Position sensor, and Engine Coolant Temperature sensor.
