1988 Pace Arrow failed due to exhaust manifold not having a smog sticker
We understand that if the vehicle does not have catalytic converter, the after market exhaust manifold is not required to have the EO sticker or numbers. We have an 88 Pace Arrow and the shop that failed said we do not have the sticker or plakard on the manifold and failed. When calling another shop, the owner stated no sticker required with no catalytic converter. Is this true? Answer:
We have to agree with the first smog technician. The fact that a vehicle is exempt from needed a catalytic converter does not exemptify the vehicle from a visual inspection for emission tampers.
Having replaced the exhaust headers with headers which do not possess an EO number will be concidered an emissions system tamper.
