2004 Toyota 4 Runner - Oil Change and Smog Check Question
Hello,
I need a smog check for my Toyota 4 Runner this year and I also need to get an oil change as well. Should I get the oil change done before the smog check or does it matter either way?
Thank you in advance for your assistance!
Janet Answer:
Your Toyota's Positive Crank Ventilation (PCV) system is designed to allow the engine to breath fumes from the oil compartments. The fumes are then burned through the combustion process.
Over time engine oil becomes contaminated. Contaminated oils are high in Hydrocarbons (HC) and will contribute to a rich mixture.
We'd recommend getting your Toyota 4Runner's engine oil changed before the smog check.
