2000 Ford F150 Super Cab How do I complete the Emission Monitors?
I had a smog test done and everything passed, but the functional test did not pass. So I had to pay and they told me to drive my truck around for the computer monitor in the truck can update or complete? My truck is not registered so I can't drive it around due to getting pulled over by the police because of no registration tags and that's because I haven't got my smog certificate. Please help me out with this issue. Answer:
There are two options. One involves having the Ford dealership drive your Ford F150 in-house (on a dynamometer) through a very specific drive-cycle in order to set the required emission monitors and get your Ford F150 to pass the smog check. By having Ford complete the emission monitors for you, it will eliminate you having to drive your Ford on the streets risking a ticket, but it will cost you probably 3 to 4 hours of labor (at whatever the dealerships labor charge is).
Your second option is to pay the DMV $50.00 for a 30 day Temporary Registration Tag, and drive your Ford in a drive cycle pattern we'll describe below to complete the emission monitors yourself. Please note emission monitors are at times very difficult to complete in a limited time. The drive-cycle below is not a guarantee to complete all emission monitors. California state law allows for only one incomplete monitor.
