My friend gave me a 1987 Honda Accord. Does it need a smog check?

I just received a 1987 Honda Accord sedan from a friend and I just need to know if it needs to be smog check in California.

Answer:

All vehicles need a smog check during a title transfer whether the vehicle was given to them or purchased. The rule does only not apply when the title transfer is between immediate family members. In this particular case, you will need to have the Honda Accord smog checked before getting the title transferred in your name. posted by SmogTips Support
