Have to get Smog Check Two Years in a Row For My Toyota Corolla

I just has my Toyota Corolla smog test done last year. My renewal letter says I have to get another smog check done this year. I live in California. Why would I need one again?

Answer:

The smog check you obtained last year was probably for a title transfer. Vehicles have to be smog checked every two years. The title transfer smog check is not part of the required biennial smog check process. If this is not the case, and the smog check last year for specifically for registration renewal purposes and not part of a title transfer, please contact the DMV at (800) 777-0133. posted by SmogTips Support
