I may have the wrong carburetor on my 1978 dodge Tioga RV w/440 engine.
I paid one shop to replace a leaking carb. When having emissions test done elsewhere, I was told my new carburetor was in fact not correct and not acceptable. The first shop disagreed because there were two carburetors available for that configuration, that year. How do I find out definitively? what is my recourse if I do have the wrong carburetor? Thank you
Answer:
Your option at this point is to get a second opinion either from another smog station or the state's Smog Check Referee's Office. If it is found that the smog station which failed your Dodge Tioga because of the carburetor made a mistake they will recommend you contact the Bureau of Automotive Repairs investigation unit and file a report. You may be able to recover your smog inspection fee from the smog station. To schedule an appointment with the state's Referee's Office call (800) 622-7733. They will recommend you a local referee field station.
