Do I have to get a Smog Test for my 2007 Pontiac G6?
I've only driven this Pontiac for 9,000 miles over the last two years. My registration renewal papers say I need to get a smog check. I have oil change documents to verify the mileage. Does my Pontiac G6 sedan need to get a smog test even if I drove very little?
Answer:
The DMV requests smog checks every two years regardless of how much or often a vehicle has been driven. Emission components will deteriorate over time even if a vehicle is not being driven. For this reason the DMV asks for a smog check once every two years, and any time a title transfer takes place (except when the transfer is between immediate family).
