1996 Dodge Stratus. Do I qualify for the vehicle buy back program?
How do you qualify for Vehicle Retirement?
It didn't need to be smogged last year (2009) but this year (2010) it does need to get smogged.
So do I need to take it to the smog place first and then if it fails send in the "Fail Paper" with my CAP Application and a copy of my Registration Renewal form?
Or Do i send in the application for Retirement first to be approved? Answer:
Your exactly right. Get a smog check first WHEN the smog check is requested
and due, and if your Dodge fails the smog test, send in the smog inspection
results along with your CAP vehicle retirement application. It will take
about 2 to 3 weeks to get a reply back from the Consumer Assistance Program
indicating your car qualifies and you've been accepted into the buy back
program. You will receive a list of authorized buy back centers in your area
to turn your Dodge in to, along with the letter saying you've been approved
for California's vehicle retirement program.
