I was wondering if a car that I am going to buy from out of state will pass California smog test. It is a 2006 Nissan Murano. I am just want to know if the Murano will pass the California smog check.
Please get back to me as soon as possible it is really important.
Answer:
The Nissan Murano you are looking into buying will pass the California smog check if its exhaust emissions fall within California's limits. It's true, there is a difference with California legal and Federal legal emission requirements, and for the most part California is stricter. However, a USED out-of-state vehicle which has all the Federal required emission components, can pass the California smog inspection process and be legally registered in this state as long as its emissions systems are not tampered with and it is equipped with the required Federal Emission Components it had installed at the factory.
