2001 Chevy S10 Aftermarket Air Cleaner Installation
Hi. I have a 2001 chevy S10 that I am doing a motor swap on. It had a 4.3L and I am putting a 5.3L in it. I have talked to a smog check referee rep and they already told me it was fine as long as it was a larger and same year or newer motor. The 5.3L engine I installed is out of a 2002 Chevy Suburban. My simple question at this time is to inquire if it is okay for me to install an aftermarket intake cleaner that is California emission legal with a CARB stamp! Thank you, Mike.
Answer:
As long as the aftermarket air intake cleaner is CARB approved (with EO number) for use in a 2002 5.3L Chevy engine you should be fine with passing the smog check. Remember all emission components from this point on must conform to 2002 5.3L Chevy engine standards.
