I don't know what to do. My 2000 Honda Passport 2000 failed the smog test twice. The check engine light is not on, please help. Thank you.
Answer:
The next step is to have a certified smog check repair station take a look at your Honda Passport. You should give them the failed smog report (VIR), but more than likely they will want to run their own baseline smog test.
They will charge a diagnostic fee to figure out what the problem is. This is normal. We recommend asking the station owner or smog technician if he/she will guarantee the repairs. In other words, if they say your Honda Passport needs a new catalytic converter, and you let them replace it, will they guarantee your car will pass? Keep in mind at times it is not possible to promise a passing vehicle. Sometimes the problems a vehicle has are many and by replacing one component there is no guarantee of passing the smog check; and further repairs/testing must be conducted.

Typically smog check failure diagnosis costs two labor hours. Usually labor hour costs between $50-$75 an hour.
