2011 Chevy Cruze with a bad Catalytic Convertor

I purchased this Chevy Cruz with 82000 miles from a dealer in California and 25 days later the check engine light came on. After having it checked it was the catalytic convertor. I was told by another business that the dealership is liable to 100000 miles, is this correct?

The manufacturer of this vehicle is responsible for certain failed emission components when the vehicle has less than 80,000/100,000 miles, not the used car dealership/seller. This falls under the Federal Emission Component Warranty. The used car dealership which you purchased this Chevy Cruz from is more then likely going to refer you to the Chevy dealership. The Chevy dealership will need to conduct their own diagnosis to verify that the Catalytic Converter on this Chevy Cruz is in fact defective. You may be required to pay for this smog check diagnosis.
