2003 Range Rover HSE Check Engine Light ON

My 2003 Range Rover has the Service Engine Soon light on and it failed the smog test . The cost of repair is more than the car's worth . I need to keep this car for at least 6 more months .What can I do to get my Range Rover registered without paying about 6,000 dollars ? Please advise my options ? Thanks a lot .

Answer:

Unfortunately there is no monetary limit on bringing your Range Rover to pass the California smog check. However, California can help you repair your vehicle if you are low income. You may receive up to $500.00 dollars in free smog diagnosis and repairs through the Consumer Assistance Program (CAP).

Please follow the link below for more information regarding CAP.

You may also qualify for an Economic Hardship Extension if you've spent at least $650.00 at a Certified Smog Repair station and your Range Rover is still failing the smog test; and you can not afford the additional repairs need to get your SUV to pass. You may receive a one time two-year smog check waiver. This program is designed to allow Income Eligible applicants ample time to repair their failing vehicles.
