1996 Toyota Camry Out of State

I want to be sure the 1996 Camry I am giving to Calififornia family member will pass the CA smog test before I drive it all the way there.

It passed the emissions test in my state 18 months ago. Are the standards the same? If not, what are the California standards, so I can have it checked out and make any needed repairs before we take it South. I understand it will need a California smog check we get there.

HC, CO and NO emissions are measured. Used vehicles being brought into California from out of state can pass the California smog test without needing any emission system modification or upgrades.
