I purchased my 2004 Audi Avant Wagon new from an Audi dealer out of state. My Audi has been in storage for the past 5 years and we are now moving to California. Should I expect any concerns with my car passing the smog check?
Answer:
Except for your Audi having been stored for 5 years, we would not expect any problems with it passing the smog check. Having the car stored for such a long period of time, especially if exposed to the elements, may have caused its vacuum lines to become brittle/cracked and solenoid(s) to stick, ultimately causing emissions issues. The only way to tell is by having a smog test administered. Should it fail the California emissions test, you may then diagnose the possible faults. If stored in an indoor environment, we'd lean towards the vehicle passing without problems.
