1985 Honda Civic CRX did not pass the CA smog test with many repairs
My son has a 1985 honda civic crx si. We have replaced the distributor, cap, rotor, timing belt, coil, eim and catalytic converter. It still did not pass the ca smog check. He desperately needs the car for work. What else can he do? Answer:
We have to diagnose why your Honda Civic failed the smog check by looking at
the emissions numbers from the tailpipe indicated on the Vehicle Inspection
Report (VIR) given to you at the smog station where your Honda smog tested.
The VIR will indicate which emissions (HC, CO or NOx) your Honda failed.
Based on those results we can give you a reasonable explanation of why your
Honda CRX failed the smog inspection. Without this information it's
impossible to tell what repairs need to be done to get your Honda Civic CRX
to pass the smog check.
Visit www.smogtips.com click on the FREE Online Diagnosis* link on the top
right hand corner of the page. Our smog technicians will only diagnose your
Honda's smog check failure for free if your Civic was smog checked at one of
our SmogTips.com certified smog test centers.
