Hi. I have a Ford F-150 and the EGR tube is broken. I went and talked to a auto parts store person and they told me the easiest and fastest way to fix it is by using a high temperature hose. So I did that but when I went to get my smog check the smog technician told me that he was not sure if I can use the hi- temp hose. Can you please let me know if I can use it? Thank you.
Answer:
Using any part other than an OEM (or aftermarket) EGR tube will cause a smog check failure. The smog technician will enter "tamper" under the EGR visual inspection portion of the smog test. The EGR must be connect as required by Ford Motor Company using only the correct EGR tube. A high temperature hose will not work and will cause your Ford F-150 to fail the smog check.
