1996 Mitsubishi Montero failed OBBD II on board readiness tests
My Mitsubishi Montero passed the emissions test, but failed the readiness flags section (11 computer circuits, some of which indicated OK, some N/A, and some Inconclusive). At the first test, I had a few Inconclusives, and now it's down to one. How many Inconclusives am I allowed to have? I was told that after July 1st you could have 1 of them, but them someone else told you can have no Inconclusives show up. I currently have 1 and it's been 4 weeks of waiting for it to reset and the one Inconclusive keeps showing up. Answer:
This is true; as of July 1st, 2010 California will only allow one incomplete
on board readiness flag. Question is however... Why does your Mitsubishi
Montero have ONE readiness test incomplete? Which readiness flag on your
Mitsubishi Montero is it? Does it affect other emissions? And can you
increase performance by repairing what ever is causing the readiness flag to
not complete?
BTW... Just a little background on On-Board Readiness Tests... The On Board
readiness flags on your Mitsubishi Montero are set (turned on) only when the
emissions system that particular readiness flag belongs to checks out "OK".
In other words and more then likely, the fact that a certain readiness flag
on your Montero is not setting indicates a problem with that particular
emissions system. We'd recommend digging a little deeper.
