Ford Crown Victoria Excessive Black Smoke

Hello. I own a 1999 Ford Crown Victoria. I got a smog test today and my car failed. It passed all the tests, but they said that it smoked. I didn't see any smoke. I've read that the smoke must be excessive. But I didn't even see any. The smog technician didn't even want to look at it when I asked. And he was standing right there. I had to insist that I be at least allowed to look while the engine is being revved. But I saw no black smoke. Nothing has been tampered with and it passed all the computer tests. It runs very good. I don't know what to do. Thank You.

Excessive smoke, either black or white will cause a smog check failure. We can only suggest having a second smog station inspect your Ford Crown Victoria. This is not to say that if your vehicle passes at the second station, the first smog station is entitled to refund your smog test fees. The smog station will more than likely state that they in fact witnessed smoke during the smog inspection. If you feel certain your vehicle has absolutely no excessive smoke problem, you may file a complaint with the Bureau of Automotive Repairs. posted by SmogTips Support
