My 1993 Mercedes Benz failed the 25 mph portion of the smog test, but it passed the 15 mph part. The smog technician tested the 25 mph part at 1550 RPM and the 15 mph part at 1570 RPM. I wondering if the RPM for the 25 mph part was incorrect and that's why my Mercedes failed the 25 mph part of the smog inspection. It's a 2.8 liter 6 cylinder engine.
Answer:
1550 RPM seems right for the 25 mph portion of the ASM Emissions Inspection. More than likely your MBZ has an engine issue which caused its smog test failure. We recommend having a smog check repair station conduct a hands-on diagnosis.
