Would a Pontiac Grand Am from IL Pass Smog in CA?

Would a 2000 Pontiac Grand Am from IL have the same smog components required to pass the smog check in California?

Answer:

Yes. The rule is any USED vehicle which is equipped with Federal Emission Components is eligible for California registration as long as the vehicle pass a smog check in California. No additional smog parts are needed. This exemption does not apply to new vehicles. posted by SmogTips Support
