I Sold My Car To Someone In Mexico, What To Do Next?
I have had my car sitting on my street because it was not running and it wouldn't pass the smog test. I sold it someone in Mexico. He told me they don't need it to pass smog there, so I sold it to him. What do I need to do with the DMV?
Answer:
Submit a "Notice of Transfer and Release of Liability" form to the DMV. This will tell the DMV that you have sold the vehicle to a new owner. The Release of Liability form should include the buyers name and address. You may complete the process online here or pick up the form at a local DMV office.
