Do All The Parts of a Supercharger Need an EO Number?

I want to install a super charger on my car. What parts need an EO number? For example if the super charger has an EO number do the other parts of the kit need EO numbers as well or are they covered by the super chargers EO number?

So here's how it works... the main component of the supercharger kit is the supercharger itself. The super charger needs to be CARB (California Air Resources Board) approved and it must have an EO (executive order) number. The rest of the components do not need to be stamped but they must be parts belonging to the original kit. The superchargers installation manual should show these parts. For the most part we're talking about hoses and vacuum lines which normally don't need EO numbers anyway. So the point being... keep the parts that come with the supercharger kit and don't modify the system in anyway. The supercharger was approved by ARB exactly as it was designed and with the components it came with. If you attempt to mix and match any of these parts it will cause a smog check failure. The smog tech will consider the supercharger system as "modified". On a side note... take any and all paperwork you have about the supercharger with you to the smog inspection in case the technician has doubts about the components and the installation. Smog techs are very cautious about undercover vehicles coming in from the Bureau of Automotive Repairs. You'll want to do everything possible to let the smog tech know you're not an undercover BAR inspector and that your vehicle's supercharger modification is absolutely legal. posted by SmogTips Support
