1996 Mazda Miata check engine light was on, and is now turned off.

My check engine light on my Mazda Miata was on and it turns out it may have been due to the ECU. I disconnected the ECU and cleaned the ground wire and the check engine light turned off. It has been about 30 miles since then. Is there a certain amount of time after disconnecting the battery or the check light goes off that you need to drive the car before it can be tested?
Answer:

You'll need to drive your Mazda Miata for at least 100-200 miles (1 to 2 weeks worth of everyday normal driving) before it will be ready to smog test. You need to drive your Mazda Miata for this period of time in order to set the proper and required readiness flags also known as "monitors". Monitors are internal self tests your Miata will run while you are driving ensuring all emissions components and systems are functioning properly. Out of the 6 or 7 monitors your Miata is equipped with you are only allowed to have one incomplete monitor and still pass the test. So to ensure all the monitors are complete and your Mazda passes the smog check the first time around, continue to drive it for at least another 100 miles before you take it in for the smog inspection.
