Will an Out of State 2007 Ford F150 Pass CA Smog Check?
I am looking at purchasing a 2007 F150 5.4L currently registered in UT. Will it pass California emissions, assuming no alteration or check engine light? Answer:
Assuming the check engine light is not on, the truck has its emission monitors completed, and no engine modifications have been performed it has a good chance of passing the smog inspection in California. "Used" out of state vehicle's are not required to have their emission systems upgraded in order to pass the smog test. The same does not apply to new vehicles. New vehicles must conform to California emission standards in order to pass the smog check and subsequently obtain registration.
