2001 VW Beetle, Airbag light on, will it fail the smog check?

I have a 2001 VW Beetle and the airbag light is on. My friend says it will fail the smog inspection. My other friend who's a mechanic said it won't. Will the airbag light being on cause me to automatically fail the smog test?

Absolutely not. The airbag light has nothing to do with the smog check. Your 2001 Volkswagen Beetle can pass the smog check (assuming all emission components are present, functioning, and your VW's not polluting) without a problem whether the light is on or off. posted by SmogTips Support
