I'm Planning on Selling My Car to a Buyer in Nevada
I just bought and smogged a car I have about 6 months ago in California. I am now going to sell it to someone in Nevada. Do I need to smog check it again? Answer:
When selling a vehicle in California (to a buyer who will register the vehicle in California) the law requires that the seller provide the buyer a valid smog check certificate. The same does not apply when selling the vehicle to a buyer who will be registering the vehicle out-of-state, or when selling the vehicle to an out-of-state buyer.
To answer your question in short, no, you do not need to get a new smog check if you're selling your car to someone in Nevada.
