Will I Pass The Smog Test with a Broken Gas Gauge?

Will my car pass the smog inspection if the gas gauge is not working? The Check Engine Light is not on and the mileage (odometer) is still working. Thank you.

Answer:

The gas gauge malfunctioning will not affect your vehicle's smog check results. The smog inspection does not test a vehicle's gas gauge system nor other dashboard lights/gauges (except for the Check Engine Light, Service Engine Soon Light, or Malfunction Indicator Lamp). A vehicle can not pass the smog check with any of these lights are on or not functioning properly. posted by SmogTips Support
