What are the smog requirements for a 2004 Dodge 2500 Turbo Diesel p/u truck?
What are the (will be in the future) requirements for a 2004 diesel pick up truck? I'm thinking of buying one to pull a trailer and I have heard that there are some significant changes to the smog requirements coming soon. Does a truck manufactured in 2004 meet smog req'ts even now? Will I be investing large money to bring this truck up to the future standards? Answer:
When you decide to purchase this 2004 Dodge Diesel pick up truck you will
need to have it smog checked in order to get it registered in California.
You will not have trouble passing the smog check if the truck is not
smoking, has no trouble codes (check engine light is not on), and all its
factory installed emission components are present. It can not have any
emission modifications. Begin this year the state started to smog check
diesel trucks. They can pass the smog test, but can not have any modified
engine parts, i.e. ECU upgrades, performance intakes or exhausts, non-OEM
turbo units and the like...
