1988 Dodge Ram Van leaking oil.

Will an oil leak stop the van from passing smog test. Doesn't smoke.
Answer:

Minor leaks which are not immediately detectable will not effect the smog exam. However, if your Dodge Van's oil leaks are severe enough the smog technician may refuse to inspect your vehicle because of concerns that the oil will leak on the dynamometer and cause an unsafe testing condition, or if during the test the oil leaks become apparent and effect the testing procedures, the technician can decide to abort the test, in which case you may be responsible for the inspection fee without obtaining a smog certificate. If the oil leaks are minor don't worry about it. If their major leaks, have them repaired before the test.
