Bringing my Toyota Camry to California from out-of-state. Do I need a smog check?
What do I need to do to pass a smog test in California with a car that I purchased in North Carolina? Answer:
A used vehicle (2000 Toyota Camry for example) which has all the Federal
required emission components can pass the California smog inspection process
and be registered in this state. A vehicle which is equipped with the
necessary Federal Emission Components is eligible for California
registration as long as the vehicle's exhaust emissions fall within
California's limits.
