2003 Chevy Malibu - If I fail the smog check, can I still drive my car?

If I fail a smog test, will DMV allow me an extended amount of time to make repairs and also permit me to keep driving my vehicle?

You can drive your Chevy Malibu, with a failed smog check, so long as the registration stickers have not expired. Once the registration tags do expire, you'll need to visit the DMV and buy a "temporary registration" tag. It costs $50.00 and will allow you to drive your Chevy Malibu for 30 more days without getting a ticket (if stopped by police). posted by SmogTips Support
