Does an out of state motorcycle need a California emissions test?
I am getting ready to buy a Motorcycle from out of state and do not want to have it paid for and shipped here before i know for sure I can register it.
I know CA requirements are tighter and tighter. But what exactly will they make me do to register it. Will i have to smog it?
I heard something about if it has 7500 miles or more it doesn't have to go through as much. What is that and what does that mean?
If I have to smog it and it doesn't have on it all the extra CA emissions junk that CA made bikes have .. how will I get it to pass? Answer:
If it is a "used" motorcycle you won't need to have the CA required
emissions components installed. The CHP will want to see the motorcycle for
verification purposes but no inspection of the emissions components will be
done. A new motorcycle is a different story. A new motorcycle can not be
registered in California without California required emissions components.
7500 miles on the odometer constitutes a motorcycle as used.
