2001 Nissan Xterra - My check engine light for a bad secondary air sensor is on.
The check engine light is on, on my 2001 Nissan Xterra. I know it is the secondary air sensor that is bad. Will this automaticly fail me on the smog check if everything else is ok? My master tech ran a diagnosis on it to let me know it was only the secondary air sensor at the time. Answer:
Yes, your Nissan Xterra will fail the smog check beause the check engine light is illuminated. Contrary to public belief, the Check Engine light being illuminated anytime during the smog inspection is automatically a smog failure.
