1984 Toyota Corolla needs new carburator. I want to apply for CAP.
my car has high mileage carb engine 4ac.
my smog check is do next month and my car its not running its top shape. i can smell carbon sometimes when i drive it. it might not pass smog. its gives me really good gas mileage for its year 30mpg. I dont want to give up on my Toyota. I want to apply for the CAP, I am income eligible and aware of the $20 fee to start work on it I am worried- what if my car expenses are higher than $500 and if I cant afford over 500, will i be able to drive my car to work still?
how long will i be given to pay the repairs if it is more than $500.
I have notice my engine does need the carburator to be replaced, and it needs a new catalytic converter and maybe canister small tubes be replaced.
what would you recommend me do?
Greetings and
thank you very much Answer:
After the $500 from CAP is used up you can apply for another $800 from VRRRM program. Search it online for more information and an application. If after all the money is spent and your Toyota Corolla still fails the smog test, you can be issued a one time 2 year smog check waiver; in which time you must get your vehicle to pass the smog inspection or else you will not be able to register it the next time it needs a smog.
