I just bought a car, i registered it, insured it, and now its not running but my smog check is due in order for it to be legally registered with dmv. what can i do to get an extension? Answer:
Getting an extension is not be difficult you will however be required to pay
all registration fees and a $50.00 fee to get a one month extension permit.
Also, Section 24007 (b)(2) of the Vehicle Code states it is the
responsibility of the seller to provide a valid smog certificate at the time
of delivery of the vehicle. I don't know if it's an option at this time, but
you might want to inform the seller of this law.
