My 1992 Toyota Camry Wagon failed the smog test. It is a 6 cylinder. Ignition timing was set to 18BTDC. The smog test center said it was the Catalytic Converter or Oxygen Sensor. These two problems the smog tech said my Toyota has, the Catalytic Converter and Oxygen Sensor, both show a PASSED on the smog check. I need help.
Answer:
Your Toyota's Vehicle Inspection Report (VIR) only indicates that catalytic converter and oxygen sensor were visually inspected for presence. In other words the smog technician made sure your Toyota Camry's CAT and oxygen sensor were not missing during the smog check. This is not an indication that either of the components are functioning properly. A diagnosis is necessary to determine whether they are working or not.
