Ford Excursion 7.3 Diesel CAT requirements?

Do I need a Catalytic Converter on my 2000 Ford Excursion 7.3 Diesel to pass the new California smog laws?

According to the Motor Emission Application Guide all models of the 2000 Ford Excursion require a Catalytic Converter and should have been equipped with one from the factory. If you try and obtain a smog inspection without one your truck will fail the smog check for "missing" emissions component. posted by SmogTips Support
