Will I need to smog check my 1979 Pontiac Firebird?

I BOUGHT A 1979 PONTIAC FIREBIRD WHICH IT HASN'T BEEN REGISTERED IN OVER 6 YEARS. WILL I HAVE TO HAVE IT SMOG CHECKED BEFORE I DO REGISTER IT? AND WILL I HAVE A PROBLEM GETTING A SMOG TEST SINCE THE ENGINE HAS BEEN REPLACED? THE CAR HAS BEEN SITTING FOR OVER 6 YEARS, AND HASN'T BEEN REGISTERED, AND I BELIEVE THE MOTOR HAS BEEN REPLACED WITH A LARGER MOTOR.
Answer:

Yes, you will need to get a smog inspection for your Pontiac Firebird before you can register it in California. Furthermore, if in fact the engine has been replaced with a larger engine, you will need to get a smog check done at a State Smog Check Referee's Office. You can contact the State Referee Office at (800) 622-7733.
