Buying a 2001 Jeep Cherokee Sport out of state

I may be purchasing a 2001 Jeep Cherokee from Texas. It has an inline 6 cylinder motor. Would this type of jeep, originally sold in Texas, be equipped with whatever smog requirements that California has? Thank you

It's true, there are differences with California legal and Federal legal emission requirements. For the most part California is stricter.
