Does a Non-Op GMC VanDura need a smog check?

I'm thinking about selling my 1993 GMC VanDura that has been placed as non-operational since 2008. Is a smog certificate required, by me (the seller), to sell it?

Answer:

We've contacted the DMV on this matter in the past. They have instructed us that vehicles which have been registered as Planned Non-Operation (PNO) do not require a smog check when they are being sold. The reason being that the vehicle does not pose a smog check problem or air quality concern since it is not being driven on public roadways. The GMC Vandura will need a smog check when the buyer decides to remove the PNO status. posted by SmogTips Support
